It all Starts with Jesus

Everyone has an opinion about Jesus. Maybe you think He’s a great teacher or a prophet. Maybe you think He didn’t exist at all. Whatever you believe, we can probably agree that Jesus changed things.

We believe He wants to change you, too.

The need for salvation begins with God. God made us for himself that we would display his glory and enjoy personal fellowship with him.

“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created” Revelation 4:11.

The problem is that we have all rebelled against God’s plans for us, and choose continually to live our own way. The Bible calls our rebellion against God sin.

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23.

Tragically, our sin against God only brings discouragement, disappointment, and ultimately destruction. However, the good news is that God did not leave us to ourselves and in our sin. Rather, he sent his son Jesus to reconcile us to himself by dying on the cross and being raised from the dead.

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” Romans 6:23.

“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ - by grace you have been saved” Ephesians 2:4-5.

Jesus Claimed He Was God

No big deal, right? Plenty of people make the same claim. But Jesus said He was God. And this upset the religious leaders of His day so much that they killed Him. But that was 2,000 years ago. Why does it matter to you now? How does who Jesus is and what He’s done affect your life now in your 9 to 5, trying to take care of your kids, paying bills, or just keeping your head above water?

God, the Creator of the universe, has a purpose for you and your life. He loves you and wants to help you because He is a good God. And because of that, His plans are better than your plans. You don’t have to measure up to some impossible religious standard to know Him. You just have to take a few simple steps.

Our responsibility is to respond to Jesus by turning away from our sin and trusting that his sacrifice has restored our relationship with God.

“if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved” Romans 10:9-10.

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6.

You don't have to be perfect. Through His death on the cross, and then coming back from the dead, Jesus took all of your wrong and gave you all of His right. If you believe that and commit to following Him, your life will never be the same.

Now What?

Here are a few steps as you begin to follow Jesus Christ:

  • Get Baptized

Your public outward confession of faith is an important part of your inward faith. We encourage you to express this inward faith outwardly by getting baptized as your first step of obedience.

  • Join a LifeGroup

We were never created to do life alone.  Join a LifeGroup and get plugged in with other believers so you begin to grow in your relationship with Jesus.

  • Start a Bible reading plan

We suggest starting with a reading plan from youversion.com. If you are starting a reading plan or purchasing a bible we encourage you to use the ESV translation. This is the translation we typically use to teach from in our worship services.
